Synchronization of the Turkish Power System with the UCTE Power System

client: TEIAS (Turkey)

type: Regional Study (Transmission, Policies)

finishing date: 2007 (parallel operation established on September 2010)

team: UCTE Working Group Turkey; EKC team: M. Vukovic, P. Miksa, Dj. Dobrijevic, Z. Vujasinovic

Main objective of this study is to analyze the technical feasibility of the interconnection of the Turkish Power System at a regional level with respect to UCTE security criteria. For that purpose, characteristic regimes (critical from network point of view) have been modeled and analyzed for maximum feasible exchange with Turkey, both from static and dynamic stability point of view. In scope was to evaluate all technical aspects before and after connection and to evaluate defense plan mechanisms are sufficient in case of major disturbances to keep system stability and reliable operation in accordance with UCTE rules and criteria.

Type of services provided:

  • Load flow analyses (steady state, contingency,...)
  • Voltage profile and stability analyses
  • Maximum exchange capabilities
  • Fault analyses, switching analyses
  • Dynamic model development and Transient stability analyses
  • Small signal stability
