Connection Study of Thermal Power Plant (650MW) to the Transmission Network of Serbia - Power System Analysis

client: AD Elektromreza Srbije (Serbia)

type: Study

finishing date: November 2016

team: Milan Ivanovic - Project Leader, N. Jovic - Consultant, M. Stojanovic

Main objective of the study is to analyze compliance of turbogenerator (650 MW) to Serbian grid code, for the point of common coupling suggested by the Investor. In order to examine compliance of the thermal power plant operation with Serbian grid code, following activities have been performed:

  • Integration of simulation model of power plant into regional SEE dynamic model in software PSSE and DIgSILENT
  • Load flow analyses – network element loadings, security N-1 assessment, power losses, voltage and reactive power control
  • Short circuit contribution assessment
  • Transient stability – Checking the capability of the generator to maintain stability and provide the required voltage support in cases of simulated voltage dips in the network (caused by close and remote electrical faults)
  • Mid-term stability - Stability assessment after large disturbances in the power system of Serbia
  • Short-term and long-term voltage stability assessment
  • Small signal stability assessment.

Type of services provided:

  • Load flow analyses
  • Network security assessment
  • Voltage stability and reactive power control analyses
  • Short circuit analyses
  • System reserve analyses
  • Transient stability analyses
  • Mid-term stability analyses
  • Small signal stability analyses
