Training and presentation: Power Quality Performance of the Transmission Network in the Republic of Macedonia

Under the finance of World Bank, EKC has successfully finished project of Power Quality Performance of the Transmission Network in the Republic of Macedonia and transfer of knowledge to MEPSO experts.

First day EKC team presented a course “Power quality – phenomena, standards and mitigation” with detailed overview of each power quality phenomena its causes, consequences, mitigation and overview of relevant international standards. During the presentation particular was paid attention to phenomena relevant to transmission network of the Republic of Macedonia. The course was attended by over 45 delegates:

  • Different departments in MEPSO
  • Energy Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Macedonia (ERC)
  • Macedonian Distribution Company – EVN
  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Skopje

The 2nd day of meeting presentation of the final report was held, including major results of the power quality monitoring at the 11 substations in Macedonian transmission system monitored during 6 month period from February to August, conclusions and recommendations. The study performed by EKC established MEPSO as the leader in the region as one of the first to conduct wide system power quality monitoring. Practice of power quality monitoring is one of the regular activities performed by TSOs from the EU countries.
