The purpose of these analyses is to justify the reconstruction of the existing Budva substation (SS) introducing a busbar section disconnector, as well as an increase in the transmission capacity of the OHL 110kV Budva-Lastva through the replacement of the conductor, with a one of a larger capacity. The analysis takes into account the local rules that manage the operation of the system (Grid Code and other rules), but also the following:

  • the physical characteristics of SS Budva and the possibility of its extension, or reconstruction
  • the characteristics of the existing OHL 110kV Budva - Lastva, and the possibility of its reconstruction or replacement of the conductor

Accordingly, detailed analyses have been made which consist of the two main parts:

  • Cost-effectiveness analysis of installation of disconnector in SS Budva
  • Analysis of increase of a capacity of OHL110kV Budva – Lastva

The cost-effective analysis of the installation of a disconnector in SS Budva was made to check the effect in transmission losses reduction, so that the installation of a disconnector in SS Budva would enable SS to be separated from SS Bar, SS Cetinje and SS Podgorica 2. Therefore, SS Budva would be fed directly from SS Lastva, which would aim to reduce the flow along that transmission line, and thus reducing the expected losses in the transmission network. Reduction of the power flow through that transmission line is necessary because in the existing topology, the consumption of SS Budva, Bar, and Ulcinj fed from SS Lastva, leading that line to be overloaded in some hours (as a result of natural power flows from TS Lastva to TS Budva and further to SS Bar and Ulcinj. After the reconstruction of Budva substation, the replacement of conductors on the line 110kV Budva-Lastva would allow the increase of consumption in SS Budva more than 90MVA/hour.

All load flow calculation are done on 8760 hour profile of generation unit engagement and consumption realisation in Montenegro power system. The following analyses are done:

  • Definition of the load development scenarios
  • Definition of the methodologies for network analysis
  • Data collection and model preparation
  • Evaluation of the results of analyses
  • Cost analyses

Type of services provided:

  • Load flow analysis
  • Techno-economic assesment
