Objective of the Study is connection of new generation block G8 in TPP Kakanj (estimated installed power 300 MW) to the transmission grid of Bosnia and Herzegovina taking into consideration transmission development plans of 400, 220 and 110 kV network until 2018. The Study investigated three possible variants of connection and provided the best solution for it. These three variants of connection are:

  1. connection on 220 kV network to existing SS TE Kakanj together with unit G7
  2. connection on 400 kV network In/out to existing 400 kV OHL SS Tuzla 4 – SS Sarajevo 10
  3. connection on 400 kV network through double circuit or two 400 KV OHLs to 400 kV SS Sarajevo 10

It was necessary to confirm that transmission possibilities of BiH network should not be endangered and to give solution for safe and qualitative electricity delivery of whole produced energy in any moment. Taking into consideration maximum engagement of TPP Kakanj G8, techno economical analyses, for all potential variants have been performed. In other words, estimation of investments that depends on variants of connection of TPP is provided.
