Analysis of electricity market effects relevant to CGES (Montenegrin TSO) is conducted for different transfer capacity values of HVDC link Montenegro – Italy, with special focus on measuring the market effects of situation in which only one HVDC link pole will be in operation for certain period of time before commissioning of the second HVDC link pole.

Electricity market analysis is conducted for 2020 as a reference year, by simulating and optimizing the behavior of electricity markets in the South East Europe and Italy. GTMax software tool is used for electricity market modeling and simulation. As a most important indicator for evaluation of CGES market position, change in congestion revenues is quantified in correlation to selected scenario.

Beside the effects on congestion revenues, study examined the position of Montenegro in pan-European mechanism for transit compensation (ITC mechanism).

Type of services provided:

  • Electricity market modeling of South East Europe and Italy
  • Electricity market simulations for 2020 as a reference year
  • Evaluation of CGES market benefits depending of network transfer capacity of the HVDC link Montenegro – Italy
  • Analysis of Montenegro position within ITC mechanism
