In this study analyses of uncertainties in investments in SEE have been performed. Influence of selected major investments in SEE on transmission network has been performed. These major investments include:

  • power plant construction (for each of analyzed new power plants two directions of export generated power have been analyzed);
  • possible large penetration of wind power plants (export of all power generated in new wind power plants from region of SEE has been analyzed);
  • connection to Italian market via HVDC links (two directions of export from region of SEE to Italy through each of analyzed HVDC options have been analyzed);
  • connection to Turkish market (power exchange through HVDC line Romania – Turkey, in both directions, has been analyzed).

In addition, selected major uncertainties in balances of SEE countries and their influence on transmission network have been analyzed also.

In all analyzed cases security analyses (n-1) have been performed. Also, lines and transformers with the most significant changes in power flows, as consequence of analyzed new elements-scenarios, have been detected.

The main result is ranking of weak points in SEE transmission network.
